Emory Evolving Arts: New Works Festival
Organized by the Emory College Center for Creativity & Arts (CCA).
Funded by the Emory University Creativity: Arts & Innovation Strategic Plan Framing Principle (CAI).
The Emory College Center for Creativity & Arts (CCA) and Emory University Creativity: Arts & Innovation Strategic Plan Framing Principle (CAI), in conjunction with Emory’s Evolution Revolution symposium (http://www.emory.edu/evolution), have funded artistic exploration by Emory and non-Emory artists on evolution-related themes generated from the October 23-24, 2008 conference. Artists will participate in the symposium and respond by presenting their creative research at Emory in the February 2009 Evolving Arts: New Works Festival organized by the CCA.

"A Fine Excess," an NEA-sponsored Poetry Conference
In celebration of National Poetry Month, the conference was held on April 2-4, 2008, and featured several distinguished poets, including Richard Wilbur, Mark Strand, and W.D. Snodgrass. Click for details.
Salman Rushdie's Public Lecture "Autobiography and the Novel"
"The lecture will be an examination of how the lives of writers intertwine with their work, and in what ways, if at all, the life can be said to be the best explanation of that work," said Rushdie of the presentation. Click to learn more.
Selections from "The Missing Piece: Artists Consider the Dalai Lama" Exhibition
Curated by Randy Jayne Rosenberg, this Emory Visual Gallery exhibition featured a variety of media by nationally and internationally-renowned contemporary artists who were inspired by the messages, vision, and values of the Dalai Lama. The exhibition was held in celebration of His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama's installation as Emory University Presidential Distinguished Professor in October 2007. Click to learn more.
STIR: Student Arts Festival
An annual student arts festival showcasing the work and performances of as many as seventy student arts groups across campus. Click to lean more.
Flannery O'Connor Conference
This two-day celebration held in September 2007 included a dramatic reading by actress Brenda Bynum; a day of panel discussions of O'Connor's life and work; an exhibition of photographs of Andalusia, the farm where O'Connor lived with her mother; and a film screening of "Wise Blood," based on the O'Connor novel of the same name. Emory's Manuscript Archive and Rare Books Library is the major repository for the acclaimed Georgia writer's personal correspondence and other papers.
